Jamie Samson is a contemporary Filipina visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice moves between two distinct yet deeply connected bodies of work. Her Cubist Pop Art paintings are acrylic and ink works defined by bold color palettes, geometric compositions, and striking figurative abstraction. Alongside these, she creates mixed media abstractions marked by textured surfaces, layered materials, and dimensional depth that invite both visual and tactile engagement. Across both forms, her work explores identity, mental health, and the evolving narrative of the modern Filipina, expressed through a visual language that feels both immediate and lasting.
Her love for visual storytelling began in childhood when she spent hours copying Japanese anime cards. This early fascination with stylized form and expressive character design shaped her artistic instincts and continues to echo subtly through her work today. In later years, the experimental structures of Pablo Picasso and the vibrant imagery of Andy Warhol further influenced her visual language, inspiring a synthesis of Cubist fragmentation and Pop Art energy.
After a two decade pause from art, Samson returned to her practice in 2023 with renewed clarity and purpose. Since then, she has steadily built her presence in the Philippine art scene through many group exhibitions across Metro Manila and Luzon, including shows at Art in the Park and projects organized by the UP College of Fine Arts Alumni Association. Her first solo exhibition, Chromax: Healing in Full Color, debuted in September 2024 at the Gateway Art Fair and marked a defining step in her professional journey.
In 2025, Samson’s career expanded across Southeast Asia and beyond. Her international exhibitions included shows in Dubai, Singapore, and Malaysia through the traveling exhibition Kita Orang, which continued to Penang and later Sarawak into early 2026. In November 2025, she presented works at the Tokyo International Art Fair in Japan, followed by participation in Worthy Circa 4x4 in Toronto in December 2025, marking her entry into the North American exhibition space.
Through each painting, Samson offers more than personal expression. She creates visual spaces where viewers may encounter their own stories, emotions, and transformations. Her work speaks in a language of color, fragmentation, and reconstruction, inviting reflection, connection, and the possibility of seeing oneself anew.
