Jessica Estolloso Nalon is a T’boli bead artist and suwat maker from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. She began practicing beadwork in 2007, learning from her sister-in-law and gradually developing the precision and patience required to embellish the suwat, a traditional T’boli wooden comb.

Over nearly two decades, Jessica has expanded her practice to include belts, necklaces, ID holders, bantilas, bensewit, and other beaded pieces. Her work is built one bead at a time, with careful attention to color, arrangement, and detail. A set of three suwat can take her around a week to complete, reflecting the time and practiced skill behind every finished piece.

For Jessica, beadwork is both a livelihood and a craft she takes great pride in. Before completing each piece, she offers a prayer, hoping that whoever receives it will feel the care and joy she has placed into her work.

Today, Jessica hopes to be recognized as a T’boli bead artist and suwat maker, and to continue sharing her craft with more people beyond Lake Sebu. In her own words: “Beads are life.”
