Iloilo is renowned for its diverse array of beautiful weaves, but none are as iconic and inspiring as the hablon, which has captured the imagination of generations of weavers, designers, and artisans. This handwoven textile, traditionally crafted on handlooms using natural fibers epitomizes Iloilo's rich weaving heritage.

Derived from the Hiligaynon word "habol," meaning "to weave," hablon encompasses both the weaving process and the fabric itself, reflecting the intricate craftsmanship involved.

Characterized by vibrant colors and distinctive plaid patterns, hablon holds a special place in the region's textile tradition. Historically, fibers like cotton, abaca, jusi (banana fiber), and piña (pineapple fiber) were used to create hablon threads, though modern variations may incorporate polyester for added durability. Despite evolving materials, hablon remains a testament to Iloilo's enduring legacy of weaving excellence.
