About BaO
Founded in 2019 by Jonina Rae, the brand BaO was named after the Filipino word for the coconut shell: bao, and her candles were birthed from the desire to enable people to create their own safe space — while also making it a pursuit to create items that are explicitly Filipino.

As a self-taught maker, there is much thought and care given into every step of making her locally-sourced works of art: from quality-checking the coconut holders, handpouring beeswax, to arranging the flowers and fruits on the surface of the candles.
