Willie Garcia is a licensed designer and the visionary founder of Junk Not, an eco-friendly company dedicated to creating upcycled furniture, homeware, and accessories. Inspired by her participation in coastal and barangay cleanups, Willie began experimenting with innovative ways to repurpose plastic waste. Her mission was clear: to transform discarded materials into beautiful, functional products while keeping them out of landfills and incinerators.
Today, Junk Not collaborates closely with the Taal community, utilizing roped plastics to craft all their unique items. This partnership not only supports local artisans but also reinforces Junk Not's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The company's creations have gained international recognition, having been exhibited globally and praised by local and international organizations, as well as government agencies.
