In The Quilter, the repeated gesture of stitching becomes a meditation on the labor through which culture is quietly maintained. Drawing from the quilting practices visibly encountered in Caohagan Island, Cebu, the work turns attention toward the hands that patiently piece together materials, memory, and inherited knowledge. Each stitch suggests a cycle of repetition and care, emphasizing how cultural practices endure through ordinary acts performed over and over again. The quilter becomes a figure of cultural sustenance, whose labor preserves craft and continuity amid the changing conditions of island life.
