Isabel Pangilinan is a craftsman whose goal is to bring the beauty of the ocean through wearable art made from genuine Philippine seaglass, which are shards of glass that have been discarded and thrown in the ocean many years ago. The silt and grime rubbing against the glass is what give seaglass its distinct finish.

With her shop, South Sea Gems, her work helps a family of fishermen of Tanza Cavite who pick the seaglass for the jewelry. Isabel’s work not only crafts intricate and adorned jewelry but also fosters a sense of community, supporting fisherfolk communities whose lives are intertwined with the ever-changing rhythm of the sea.
