Judhea Java, also known as Deya (b. 2001), is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cebu, Philippines. Deya works across painting, installation, assemblage, printmaking, and plant-based material
processes. Her practice often draws from personal memory, queer experience, ecological relation, and
collective forms of care and belonging. In her recent work, she explores plant pigment extraction, natural
dyeing, textile installation, and painting as ways of transforming color, fabric, and botanical matter into
material traces of memory, identity, and becoming. Through these processes, she reflects on how personal
experiences can connect to wider collective narratives of vulnerability, transformation, and belonging
