Sven Wilbur Lim

Filipino artist Sven Lim also known as Living Pages immortalizes and recontextualizes discarded books through the additive sculptural process that attaches torn and cut pages of books onto a meticulously designed wire armature.

As a sculptor and a robotic arm engineer, Sven
creates three-dimensional structural elements
through the use of papers. As a visual storyteller, he uses discarded books a s found objects and as narrative elements in his whimsical assemblages. For Sven, central to his work is the desire to create imaginary worlds that are populated by make-believe characters that seem to visually appear to emerge from aged books. Some of his achievements are Exhibition at CCP for Pasinaya festival and one of his work is owned by Mr. Ryan Cayabyab gift by Ateneo Chambers of Singers.

"As a child, I wanted to make my own toy figures but, back then, I didn't know how. Growing up, there was only limited access to the internet and
there wasn't even YouTube yet. Access to usual information relating to the production of DIY toys was not readily available. It was when I graduated that I had the means to buy materials to create my own toys. I've tried wood, clay, chalk, and soap but the material that I gravitated to the most is paper. I seek to achieve an atmosphere of tranquility with my paper sculptures. What started as a desire to create my own toys morphed into a desire to create works that communicate serenity and beauty."
