Jofer Mijares
Jofer Mijares is a Filipino artist and filmmaker whose creative practice moves fluidly between image, narrative, and cultural observation, rooted in the humor and resilience of everyday Filipino life. With a background in advertising and creative leadership (including work as a creative director and writer) her work foregrounds storytelling that reflects distinctly Pinoy sensibilities and emotional directness, favoring honesty and lived-in moments over polish. Jofer’s filmmaking credits include writing for One True Pair, a film featuring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.
Her approach treats visual work and narrative as inseparable, and this foundation in screenwriting is deepened by her selection into the prestigious pool of screenwriting students mentored by National Artist Ricky Lee. Beyond her studio and film work, Jofer is a passionate animal rights advocate and solo rescuer, caring for nine master cats and her pabebe dog, Frida—an ethos of care that continues to shape both her life and art.
